The Sunday Slate — Volume 3: Weekend Reads & Highlights

Happy Sunday! Sunday is easily my favorite day of the week. This morning I made a cozy breakfast of crispy kale and potatoes with soft scrambled eggs for myself and my friend Alex. Last night I went into downtown Los Angeles for a media event with Wedspire and was glad to bring some close friends along. Alex may have left her phone in my car after enjoying the open bar—classic. It was an epic ladies’ night and I’m so happy we made it happen.

Today I’ve been prepping for an upcoming photo shoot in Colorado this week with Purely Elizabeth. I’ll share updates on Instagram Stories so you can follow along. I also need to figure out dinner—I’m leaning toward a green chili enchilada casserole. Wishing you a relaxing, restful Sunday! Now, onto this week’s Sunday slate.

1. Instacart App: Have you tried Instacart yet? It’s my little secret for grocery shopping from the couch. Instacart lets you order groceries for delivery for a fee, which feels indulgent but is incredibly convenient. Shopping online often keeps me from impulse-buying the things I crave when I shop hungry. Sometimes I even use Instacart to build my grocery list, then bring that list with me to the store so I stick to what I actually need.

2. New Olly Vitamins: I’ve been working on clearer skin, better nutrition, and more exercise this month, and I’ve started taking vitamins regularly. In the past I’d forget to take supplements or dislike their smell, so I finally gave gummy vitamins a shot. These Olly gummies from Target are surprisingly refined—there are targeted formulas for probiotics, skin support, and focus. They almost feel like an adult candy store, and I appreciate how easy they make taking supplements consistently.

3. Hair looks I’m loving: My relationship with my hair has been… interesting. In high school I over-processed and ended up with a rough bleach job, then tried a very dark brunette phase. Lately I’ve settled into a natural look that I love, though it can feel a bit safe at times. I’d welcome stylist tips—here are some looks I’m currently inspired by.

4. Our first time using Blue Apron: This week I’m sharing a sponsored post about Blue Apron on Instagram. Jared has wanted to try Blue Apron for ages, and when the opportunity came up I figured why not. Anything that encourages Jared to cook more is a win in my book. Look for the story on Tuesday.

5. Guacamole bar on Inspired Home: I wrote a piece on building a guacamole bar, originally geared toward healthier Super Bowl appetizers, but the concept works for any party. It’s a flexible, crowd-pleasing idea that makes hosting easier and more interactive.

6. New prop styling guide: I posted a sneak peek on Instagram of a food prop styling guide I’ve been developing. After getting messages asking if I’d ever put one together, I decided to create a practical guide. It’s shaping up to be a 10–12 page PDF packed with photos and styling tips. One previewed section focuses on wood props—how they introduce warmth and texture to food photography.
