The BBQube TempMaster Pro is a compact barbecue temperature controller that manages both pit and food temperatures with a built-in fan that connects to your grill or smoker via a rubber hose.
The device combines a variable-speed fan housed in the base with a detachable, rechargeable thermometer module. Its tidy, guitar-like design is complemented by a bright OLED display and a click-wheel control that makes navigation and setup intuitive.

Controls and settings are accessed through the click-wheel, which provides clear, simple menu navigation. The thermometer module attaches magnetically to the controller and can be removed to function as a standalone wireless temperature monitor. When detached, the module connects to your phone via Bluetooth and can operate on its internal battery; the manufacturer states this battery can last up to 100 hours while detached.
When docked, the controller charges the thermometer module via the included 12V AC adapter and powers the fan. Charging occurs only while the modules are together, and the AC adapter is required for pit-control mode since it supplies power to the fan.

Setup and pairing with Android and iOS devices is straightforward. The companion app enables wireless monitoring, logging, and simple alarm setup. We found the app interface clean and easy to use, and pairing with our phone was quick.
Connecting the BBQube to the grill was straightforward: the hose, bottom vent adapter, and probes installed easily. In a kamado grill using hardwood lump charcoal, the controller required a bit more time than expected to settle, but once stabilized it maintained temperature within about ±2–5°F between fan cycles.
When opening the lid to add food or baste, pressing and holding the click-wheel pauses the fan to prevent it from overcompensating during the temperature swing. Pressing the wheel again resumes normal operation; the controller also automatically returns to normal fan behavior 60 seconds after unpausing, which helps avoid abrupt fan activity when the lid is closed.
We cooked a pork butt while monitoring both grate and meat temperatures through the BBQube app and the unit’s displays. Temperatures stabilized for extended periods and consistently stayed within roughly ±2–5°F between fan cycles during observation.

One limitation is Bluetooth range. If you move out of range, the connection drops and must be re-established manually when you return. In our tests, any alarms or app session data prior to disconnect appeared to be cleared, requiring reconfiguration of alarms after reconnection. To work around this, we checked logged graphs periodically throughout longer cooks to ensure continuity. Despite the Bluetooth limitation, the device consistently maintained steady temperatures while connected.

What We Loved
The BBQube’s clean, boxy aesthetic and large click-wheel make it approachable and simple to operate. The pause feature—activated by holding the click-wheel—works well for brief lid openings. Having the fan integrated into the controller instead of mounted under the grill is convenient, and the included kamado adapter with adjustment clips fit various vent sizes easily. The detachable thermometer module that doubles as a battery-powered wireless thermometer is a practical and flexible touch, and the included probe wire spools are useful for neat cable management.
What Could Be Improved
The lack of built-in or optional Wi-Fi means monitoring at longer distances is limited to Bluetooth range. If you step beyond Bluetooth reach, the app may lose previously logged data and requires manual reconnection and alarm setup when you return. The controller can also slide on slick surfaces when the hose is attached; adding rubber feet would improve stability.
Who It’s For
This unit is well suited to backyard enthusiasts who want a compact, easy-to-set-up pit controller and thermometer without needing cloud connectivity. If your smoker stays within Bluetooth range of your living area, the BBQube offers reliable control and alerts for unattended cooks.
Final Thoughts
The BBQube TempMaster Pro is a capable, competitively priced controller that mixes thoughtful features with straightforward operation. For users who don’t require Wi-Fi or cloud-based monitoring, it delivers consistent temperature control and a useful detachable thermometer module. An app update that preserves logged data across brief Bluetooth interruptions would make the experience even better.
The BBQube also has an optional add-on called Relay that enables sous-vide use, which we have not tested.
