Framed Holiday Heart Wreath Ideas for Festive Home Decor

Now that October is ending, it’s a great time to plan your holiday décor. With a bit of creativity and a few inexpensive supplies, you can make a unique wreath that looks custom-made without breaking the bank. This Holiday Heart Wreath with Frame, inspired by Katie Femia’s idea, is a simple, stylish project you can display through the holidays and even into Valentine’s Day if you remove the holly or change the accents. Swap stems or ribbon to match your home—gold ribbon and metallic touches would be lovely alternatives. Thanks to Katie for sharing the tutorial.

Supplies needed:

  • Heart-shaped grapevine wreath (about $6 at craft stores)
  • Wooden frame
  • Red ribbon
  • Faux frosted evergreen stems (4 stems or so; about $2.99 each at craft stores)
  • Hot glue and a glue gun

Holiday Heart Wreath Materials

Directions:

1. Set the frame aside for now and start by decorating the heart-shaped wreath.
2. Trim the frosted evergreen stems to leave about a 3-inch length of stem attached to each cluster of greenery. Use wire cutters or sturdy scissors—cut and bend the stem until it separates cleanly.
3. Shape each stem to follow the curve of the grapevine heart. One or two stems per side usually fit well; you can gently bend stems into a candy-cane curve for a neat fit.
4. Affix each stem to the grapevine wreath with hot glue, pressing and holding until it bonds securely.
5. Continue adding stems until the wreath is evenly covered with foliage.
6. Wrap a length of red ribbon around the top of the wreath and use it to attach the wreath to the top of the wooden frame.
7. Finish by tying an additional length of ribbon into a bow and affixing it to the wreath or frame for a polished look.
