I usually pan-fry breakfast sausage patties, and occasionally I bake them, but pan frying is my go-to. The downside is the mess: splatter and grease. When I discovered that you can cook sausage patties in a waffle iron, I had to try it. Waffled sausage patties are simple, quick, and surprisingly good.

Crunchy Delicious Patties
In about three minutes you can have perfectly cooked sausage patties with a light crust — golden brown and delicious. I prefer a little crust on sausages; it adds texture and flavor. Baking can achieve a crust too, but it often takes longer or requires a broiler. Cooking in a waffle iron is faster and creates a nice exterior without extra fuss.
On our small round Cuisinart waffle maker I can cook four patties at once, which is ideal for two people. The process is tidy and cleanup is easy.
If you’re experimenting with new things to cook on a waffle iron, try waffled fries or cinnamon-roll waffles for a fun twist. They pair well with pancakes or other breakfast favorites.
