We had heard about Mariposa Baking Company for years and finally got the chance to visit. It lived up to the reputation. The moment you walk in you notice the warm aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries and a display that seems to offer more baked goods than you could possibly try in one visit.
We stopped on our way back to the San Francisco airport before a long travel day, so we sampled several items and bought even more to take with us. The breads were among the best gluten-free loaves we’ve tasted—hearty, well-textured and flavorful. The pastries and other baked goods were equally impressive.
Items we ordered: avocado toast, a personal pizza, vegetable quiche, turkey sandwich, a chocolate-frosted donut, chocolate chip cookies, focaccia, graham crackers and a cinnamon roll. Each item showed attention to flavor and texture, with the savory options balanced by excellent sweet treats.
The atmosphere is informal and welcoming, suitable for a quick bite, a relaxed snack or buying items to-go. Service was friendly and efficient, and the selection makes it easy to find something for different tastes and dietary needs—especially if you need gluten-free options.
