Alien Brain Hemorrhage Shot Recipe: How to Make the Layered Party Shooter

This layered shot is a striking visual — like a bloody alien brain in a jar — and makes a perfect addition to Halloween gatherings.

A shot glass is filled with a layered shot that is red on the bottom, then blue, then clear, and a light brown brain texture for the top layer.

If you want to wow guests with a dramatic layered shot, try the Alien Brain Hemorrhage. It has three distinct layers — a bright red base, a vivid blue middle, and a textured light-brown top that resembles brain folds. The final effect is eerie and impressive, like a bleeding alien brain suspended in a jar.

Despite its appearance, this shot is simple to make when you follow a few basic techniques for layering and pouring. Once you feel confident, you can experiment with similar variations like the classic brain hemorrhage or other spooky shots for parties.

Ingredients

A bottle of blue curacao, Bailey's Irish Cream, Peach Schnapps, and grenadine all on a black background.
  • Peach Schnapps – Triple sec can be used as a substitute.
  • Grenadine – Use a bright red grenadine (like Rose’s) for the vivid color.
  • Blue curaçao – This orange-flavored liqueur creates the blue layer.
  • Irish Cream – Bailey’s Irish Cream produces the creamy “brain” texture on top.

Tips

  • To achieve the best brain-like texture, drizzle the Irish cream slowly. A spout pourer or a bottle with a narrow tip helps control the flow for better effect.
  • If you don’t have a pourer, transfer the Irish cream to a squirt bottle or a small dispensing container to drizzle it precisely. This makes the layers form and the “brain” texture pop.
Two shot glasses on a black background. Each is filled with a layered shot that's red on the bottom, blue in the middle, and the top is a light brown liquid that has formed a brain-like texture.

Prep Time: 2 minutes
Total Time: 2 minutes
Servings: 1 shot

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce Peach Schnapps
  • .5 ounce Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 1 splash Blue curaçao
  • 1 splash Grenadine

Instructions

  • Pour the peach schnapps into a shot glass to form the base layer.
  • Slowly drizzle the Irish cream over the schnapps in a circular motion. As the cream sinks and curdles slightly, it forms the brain-like texture.
  • Carefully add a splash of grenadine, letting it sink and create the red accents, then add a splash of blue curaçao for the middle blue layer.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your creepy creation.
